How it decides

How ChangeGuard decides what matters.

Every change is measured first. An AI summary and a change rating come next, and the rules you set have the last word.

  1. It measures the change

Each check compares the page with the version you last reviewed: the words added, removed or moved, and the screenshot. Formatting changes, like spacing, punctuation or capital letters, are considered minor, and so is text that only moved. A removal is rated by how much it took from the page.

  2. It writes a summary and a rating

For the rest, an AI model writes a short summary and rates the change likely substantial or likely minor, with a category such as “date deadline” or “new document”. Each rating says how it was reached: by direct comparison, by the AI, or both.

  3. You set the rules

Use keywords to only be alerted if a change mentions one, or to ignore a change if it only contains words you list to ignore, such as “office closed”. You can also choose how small a change is too small to mention, and whether a new document, or text that was only removed, counts. Set them for a page, a set or the whole workspace.

  4. You always see the evidence

The summary never replaces the page. The old and new wording sit side by side with the changed words marked, next to the screenshots, and the email quotes the lines that changed.

Why the rating says “likely”

A rating is a judgement, not a guarantee. Changes rated minor are still listed after the substantial ones, in the email and in the review queue, so you can look for yourself.
